With a wealth of experience in education, Dr Atul Kalhan has guided over 50 postgraduate students across the globe for their MSc Endocrinology and MSc Diabetes, as well as serving as External Examiner (PhD) for Swansea University, and Examiner for PACES (MRCP). He has completed a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in Diabetes & Endocrinology (Wales Deanery) and an MD (Cardiff University): Evaluation of biological role of adenosine receptors in Neuroendocrine tumours.
Dr Kalhan has been recognised for his valuable contributions to the field of Endocrinology with numerous prizes, including at European Neuroendocrine Tumour Society (ENETS; Granada, Spain March 2009), UK & Ireland Neuroendocrine Tumour Society (UKINETS; London, December 2008) British Endocrine Society (BES; Harrogate and Birmingham April 2009 and 2011 respectively) annual meetings.
A reputable voice in Endocrinology, Dr Kalhan is Editor of Best of Five MCQs for the Endocrinology and Diabetes SCE, published by Oxford University Press in February 2015, which remains one of the most widely read books by diabetes and endocrinology trainees in the UK. He has had a number of other editorials and articles published in peer reviewed journals.
Dr Kalhan is passionate about teaching (and learning about) endocrinology; he enjoys opportunity to interact with keen and enthusiastic postgraduate students all across the globe as Programme Leader of our Endocrinology courses. Outside of work, he has a strong interest in sports and meta-physics, having completed one marathon and a dozen half-marathons over the last 10 years.
