Biography

Jacques van Blerk

Jacques van Blerk is a Tutor on the PGDip and MSc in Clinical Physiology at the University of South Wales. He has been a Tutor with the University since 2017, supervising Masters dissertations and contributing to content development and online delivery on the Diploma programme. He holds a Master's Degree in Sports and Exercise Medicine, awarded cum laude from the University of South Wales, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine, also from the University of South Wales. He is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, awarded in 2020 in recognition of meeting UK Professional Standards Framework criteria for teaching and supporting learning in higher education. Jacques has practised as a Biokineticist since 2011, running a private practice based within a Virgin Active Health Club, working alongside physiotherapists, dietitians, and personal trainers to deliver evidence-based exercise prescription, injury prevention, and rehabilitation for individuals with medical and orthopaedic conditions. His clinical background also includes strength and conditioning roles within professional and semi-professional rugby, including the Boland Cavaliers and Durbanville/Bellville Rugby Club. This combination of postgraduate academic training, clinical practice, and multidisciplinary experience underpins his contribution to the programme.
