Biography

Leela Barham

Leela Barham is a health economist with over 20 years of experience including advising government bodies, the NHS, patient organisations, and global pharmaceutical and medical technology companies. She holds an MSc in Health Economics (Distinction) from the University of York and has extensive expertise in health policy, pricing, market access, and health technology assessment (HTA).

As Director of an independent consultancy, she has delivered policy analysis and strategic advice across the UK health system and internationally. Her previous work includes contributions to policy development at the Department of Health and advisory input on NHS payment systems.

Leela is a published author in peer-reviewed journals including Pharmacoeconomics and The Patient, and a regular commentator in healthcare media. She brings a blend of academic rigour and practical insight, underpinned by substantial teaching and training experience - from postgraduate education to professional development for industry audiences.

Her leadership of the MSc in Applied Health Economics ensures that the programme is grounded in real-world relevance, connecting economic theory with policy and practice.
